Equinox West 50th Street

I’ve been using this location for a year and a half now. The gym is very well maintained, extremely clean, and the equipment is in very good condition with plenty of cardio machines and a stretching area. The staff is super nice and friendly. The location is great, right in the middle of Midtown with subway stations all around.

Honestly I don’t understand the low ratings of this place! I’m from DC and was in for the weekend, got a guest pass from a friend. This gym was super clean, well stocked, the machines were all very nice and new. The staff were friendly and my overall experience was excellent. I would recommend this gym to anyone, yes it’s on the smaller side but they have a lot of equipment. Don’t be bothered by the negative reviews go check it out! 💪

A cute, capsule gym for a luxury price-tag. But is it worth it? Had a membership here for about 6 months, but I am discontinuing. Biggest pluses are that it is always very clean & the bathrooms come with more amenities than the average gym (hair straighteners, Kiehl's* bath/body/hair products, towels, etc.). This makes me feel comfortable taking my time & enjoying the aftercare experience of my workout. But the post-game is not the only thing that matters. Biggest cons are that even with a single gym membership, which is hundreds of dollars, this gym is still underground: it has no natural light and is not very spacious. It also does not have lots of machines, or very specialized machines--they are very standard (e.g. hip abductor, leg extension). Of the muscle-targeting machines, there will be only one in the gym, not multiple. This is Manhattan, so limitless space can't be expected, but for the price I'd still expect it to feel more airy. Essentially, the workout side of my experience could be a more elevated for price. So, if what you're looking for is a gym, I think there are definitely better gyms that better serve that purpose. You are paying for the experience, which is like a nice hotel. But this is not a gym where I think "this is the best gym I have been to". I will be looking for that more in my next gym! After 4 years of membership these leaders have failed me utterly. That is to say, that after 4 weeks of emails with member services in an attempt to cancel my membership and doing everything they asked. I received a very nasty email from the general manager Steve canceling my membership and claiming I'll receive a refund, we'll see!?! And they cancelled it on a day that was different than I had previously been told! They just keep getting it wrong and that's true across the brand, whatever club you go to... #fail This place has gone to the dumps and this brand has lost all of its appeal for me. For the price, which is high, one should get something more than a quick interlude in the shower or your wallet stolen from your locker. 😲 Skip this place, save your money, there's better.

I recently moved to NYC to start a new job on May 1. First and foremost, I wanted to join a local gym that's either within walking distance from my apartment or office. Second, I wanted to take advantage of gym membership reimbursements from my company, American Express credit card, and health insurance plan. With that in mind, my first instinct was to tour Equinox. I walked in and approached their White male receptionist to inquire about membership. He completely ignored me and proceeded to browse his phone. I asked again, and he told me to take a seat. Approximately 25 minutes later he gave me an attitude after I asked him if there were any membership advisors available. So I left. It was reprehensible how he treated me. It was shocking to observe his failure to greet any members arriving or leaving the gym.
