Outstanding team! Very helpful. Wonderful staff. Clean, professional, friendly, terrific management, this YMCA is perfect with a great location next to the mall at Stonestown. My family loved it. My daughter was so happy.

I've been a member here for about 2 months now. Here's my take. Dislikes: - really small weight room, during peak hours it gets really cramped. To the point where it can become dangerous where people might accidentally bump into someone mid set. You could also find yourself waiting for equipment to open up if you don't ask to work in - the basketball court has a lot of dead spots. You could dribble normal when all of a sudden you could lose your dribble. I've seen people trip over their own ball after their dribble fell flat due to a dead spot - Hours of operation: sometimes i wish it was open later. - mens locker room/shower sometimes stinks, but that's anywhere. But this place isn't bad compared to other gyms I've been too - a little pricey if you don't have a discount, but I've used all the amenities so i feel like I'm getting my money's worth Likes: - mostly everybody who lifts is really good about putting the weights back where the belong. Not where they got them from, but where they belong. - a good number of people are really good about wiping down their equipment after use - There are multiple studios to stretch and exercise - Lots of sports to try (basketball, volleyball, pickleball, swimming) - individual showers, ideal for privacy - the outdoor workout area is a nice change of scenery, the free weight is ideal for bench, squat and deadlifts. The turf area is good for plyo work, stretching and other body movement exercises. - more than enough lockers, just bring your own lock Overall: I enjoy it here. I think the people here are great, staff seems friendly and helpful. The regular gym goers seem to develop friendships and i think it's awesome to see. I haven't encountered any obnoxious or annoying gym goers. The amenities are great. I have yet to feel disgusted being there because generally it's clean.

Honestly lately this YMCA is a messssss. Even after the “annual closure” when they closed down the entire gym for “improvements”, it’s the same if not more. The facility doesn’t even have a vending machine where you can buy a water bottle in the event you forget one. Feminine products are only available from a quarter dispenser but you can’t get change from the staff at the front desk so you’re shhh out of luck if you don’t have one on you. & I understand that ideally you plan for those things & always carry things like a water bottle & a tampon with you but it wouldn’t be difficult for them to have them available for purchase either. Also, the water fountain downstairs, even after the closure, is out of service 95% of the time. I’m not a maintenance person so I can’t explain why but it seems kind of ridiculous. The facility has a lot of potential if the efforts to improve it went towards the equipment available & accommodations rather than a mural next to the stairs that yall really didn’t need. Just sayin.

I have been a member at this gym for over 20 years and a few months ago one of the staff told me I would have to cut my workout short and leave because I was wearing "work" pants that were not gym appropriate. I was shocked and thought this staff member must be misinformed, so I took pictures of my attire, and sent to the manager (Kim), who told me that "pants with zippers or buttons have the potential to ruin the upholstery of the equipment". I have emails of this bizarre encounter, and she was difficult to get a hold of. I purchased a 24 hour fitness membership soon after and checked with 24 hour if my attire would be appropriate for them, in case this is some new attire policy at gyms. They thought it was ludicrous. I'm not sure what's going on with this Y lately but I'd advise interested customers to look elsewhere. I've been very happy with 24hr fitness.

Mind you I've been working out at city for the past year, recently got gym-pass and decided to go to the Y as well... but to my surprise.. the staff are absolutely horrible. Why are they all so... sarcastic, speaking monotonically, emitting a cacophonous atmosphere at the front desk, and talking bad about my parent just because I'm trying to get to the orientation. They act like I'm always in the wrong, and don't apologize. They just stay entitled to whatever the hell they on.. So many bad experiences in the first 2 weeks 🤷♂️. I had to reschedule like twice, and the first time the staff didn't even show up. In the end they asked me whats your knowledge on weights. I said I went to city for a year and they just let me through like that. Couldn't they have done that the first time. They have my contact info, they didn't even bother contacting the three times they fail to let me do an orientation. Wasting my 3 day weekend for this ...😞Just go to city or 24 hour. Im not even gonna elaborate. The staff are actually tweaking. How does this place have a high rating. 💀it's not like the services are crazy good. Any decent gym should have these things. All these reviewers are absolutely over-glazing this gym, giving it more praise than it deserves.
