The maintenance on this very crowded Gyms is the worst I have ever seen. Currently about half the machines are out of order in the machine area on the second floor and some have been broken for over a month. It would be nice if they would fix or replace the broken equipment.

Super awesome gymnasium at FIU. There are lots of gym facilities as well as yoga. I stupid and weird thing is that they always come up with new schedules... And you may find it closing 6, 9, 11 pm.

The amenities for the gym are great and all of the fitness classes are a nice add on since these classes would cost a whole new membership at any other gym. I once had a CycleBar membership costing $129 a month just for cycling classes, so these classes save me so much money a month since they’re included and I get so much more than just cycling classes. Ray, Tony, and Mikayla are great instructors who cater to all fitness levels. Being someone who doesn’t like to work out alone I find all of their classes fun to look forward to while still getting a great workout. Only thing about the classes is that the Pilates class gets so full because it’s really popular and of course all of us women want to participate. I think more scheduled Pilates classes would help with overcrowding so hopefully in the future they’ll be more since I know it’s a new class this semester anyway. Only complaint is a few of the workers. They don’t really know the schedule for the group fitness classes and not really sure how to do anything besides scan people in. One employees on the phone also told me the wrong start time for the Pilates class when I asked if the schedule is the same for one Friday, since I knew they were closing early that day. She told me the class starts at 12:50 when usually it ends at 12:50. I went early to the gym anyway, kinda figuring she gave me the wrong information. Sure enough, Pilates class started at 12 on the dot. Throughout the few years being at FIU, the workers have never been helpful and sometimes kinda disruptive when you’re just trying to work out and they approach you out of the blue. Not all of them, but I’ve been approached and stared at uncomfortably by a couple of creepy employees while doing cardio (in unflattering leggings and an oversized t-shirt) in the past. I think the gym in general became a little more relaxed on attire in the recent year just because one day a while back I was turned away from working out because I was wearing leggings and a sports bra that only showed two inches of mid drift and back was fully covered. Still didn’t let me enter. But recently they relaxed on judging other women’s athletic attire as soon as you walk through the door so that’s a plus.
